How do I place a bid on an item?

When you click on an item you are interested in bidding on, you will be redirected to a full page description of the item which contains a Bid button and Bid form. Simply fill in your user name, password, and the amount of your bid. You will have the opportunity to preview your bid before confirming it.

Does it cost anything to bid on an item?

No - searching and bidding for items is free on International Militaria.com.

What is Autobid?

As you might expect, autobid is an automatic method of bidding on an item. Here's how it works. You set your initial and maximum bid amounts on an item. If another user outbids you while you're out doing more important things, autobid will automatically increase your bid until it is higher than the previous user's bid, providing that amount is less than or equal to the maximum amount you are willing to pay. You will receive email notification whenever autobid increases your current bid and if, and when, another user outbids your maximum bid.

What is a Reserve Price?

Some sellers choose the option of setting a reserve price, which is the minimum amount the seller will accept for the item. This figure is known only to the seller. Once a reserve price has been met, bidding takes its normal course until the highest bidder wins. If an auction ends and the reserve price has not been met, the seller may choose to sell the item to the highest bidder, but is under no obligation to do so.

Can I get more information about an item?

If you need more information about an item, you can contact a seller with your questions via email before you place your bid. See Email Another Registered User above.

Who pays shipping costs?

The winning bidder usually pays, but check the seller's lot description for more information. If in doubt, you can contact the seller by e-mail to ask for an estimate of costs.

First, congratulations on your winning bid! You will receive an email notification from International Militaria.com confirming that you are the highest bidder and have won the auction. Leaving Feedback about a Seller

How do I start an auction?

In order to sell an item, you must first register as a user. Once you are registered, simply click on the Sell button located on the navigation bars near the top and bottom of each page to create your own auction. You will be presented with a form and easy to follow instructions for each step of the process.

How do I upload pictures?

When you are creating an auction lot, you have the option of uploading digital images, in .gif or .jpg form only. If you are uploading from your own PC, simply click on the "Browse" button to search your own directory for the image file. If the digital image resides on a server, enter the exact URL.

Should I set a reserve price?

Setting a reserve price is one way to test the water to see what a particular item may realize at auction, but it is not always popular among bidders who may lose interest if the reserve is high.

What fees does the seller pay?

There are no fees for listing an item, unless you choose to have your item outlined in bold print or featured prominently on our homepage and/or a specific category page. There are no sellers fees if an item doesn't sell. If an auction item is sold, the seller will be charged a percentage of the winning bid. See Fees Page for further details.

Can I edit my auction information?

Payment methods

You might choose to accept any or all of the following: personal check, cashier's check, postal order or money order. The more options you offer, the greater the number of potential bidders.

Can I relist an item if it doesn't sell?

Yes, you can list an item as many times as you like. If an item hasn't sold though, you might consider changing the price and/or presentation of the item. An eye-catching photograph and an interesting, detailed description will go a long way toward sparking the bidding process.
